Missed call to Elm Street Plumbing
Leaking kitchen sink
Jamie Lewis (202) 555-0146
Voicemail transcript
“Hi, it’s Jamie. The pipe under our kitchen sink leaks whenever we run the faucet. We’re on Elm Street. Can someone call me after four?”
Read the message. Check the recording. Call back when you’re ready.
- Keep your business number
- Read the message or listen back
- You decide what happens next
The phone rings at the worst possible time.
You’re tracking down a leak, carrying a water heater, or explaining a repair to a customer. Picking up means stopping. Letting it ring means wondering whether that was a dripping faucet or a new installation you’d have wanted to quote.
You don’t need to answer every call. You need to know what each one was about.
Know what you’re calling back about.
Finish the job in front of you
Give your customer your attention. CallCrate takes a voicemail from the caller you can’t answer, without a phone menu to work through.
Read the problem before you redial
Scan the transcript for the fixture, the symptoms, and anything else the caller mentioned. Listen to the recording when you need their exact words.
Keep repair requests out of your head
An email alert and one inbox give you somewhere to return to between jobs, instead of relying on a number scribbled in the truck.
Typical calls: Leaking fixtures, blocked drains, water heater questions, and installation requests.
Your number.
Your customers.
A better way to miss a call.
CallCrate works behind your existing business number. No new number to put on the van, your website, or your business cards.
-
We help you get set up
Create your account and add your business details. We prepare your CallCrate forwarding number and check that it works. It takes a little time; it isn’t instant.
-
Forward the calls you can’t answer
Once your number is ready, follow your carrier’s instructions for call forwarding. Your customers keep calling the number they already know.
-
Callers leave a normal voicemail
They hear your greeting and leave a message. No voice bot to negotiate with. CallCrate records the message and writes it out.
-
Read it, then make the call
An email alert points you to the message. Read the transcript, listen when you need to, and decide how to follow up. No job is booked or promised on your behalf.
AI text follow-up
A leak call needs more than “call me back.”
The fixture, the address, and whether water is still running help you decide what to ask next. With AI text follow-up, CallCrate can collect missing details using the guidance you set.
Questions you could have it ask:
- Which fixture or pipe is the problem?
- Is water still leaking when it’s turned off?
- What’s the address, and how do we get in?
- When’s a good time to call you back?
You set the questions and the business facts it can share. These are examples, not a ready-made industry setup. You still handle quotes, bookings, and advice.

Thanks. Is water still leaking when the faucet is turned off?
Jamie
No, only when we use it.
Illustrative example. CallCrate identifies itself as automated. The caller can ask for a person or text STOP to stop the conversation.
A useful backup.

A few things worth knowing.
Straight answers for plumbers. Have a question we didn’t cover? Ask us.
Is CallCrate a plumbing answering service?
CallCrate handles calls you can’t answer by taking a voicemail, writing it out, and emailing you an alert. It isn’t a live receptionist or a plumber on the phone. You review the message and decide how to respond.
Can CallCrate decide whether a plumbing call is an emergency?
No. You can read the caller’s description, but CallCrate doesn’t monitor emergencies, diagnose leaks, give safety advice, or dispatch a plumber. Keep your emergency contact process separate.
Can I keep my business phone number?
Yes. Keep the number your customers already know. Once your CallCrate forwarding number is ready, follow your carrier’s instructions to forward the calls you can’t answer. Carrier options and charges can vary. We help with setup; service isn’t instant.
What happens if the caller doesn’t leave all the details?
You still get the voicemail, transcript, recording, and email alert. You can ask about anything missing when you call back. CallCrate doesn’t turn an incomplete message into a confirmed job.
Will CallCrate quote prices, book jobs, or handle emergencies?
No. You make every pricing, scheduling, and service decision. CallCrate doesn’t promise callback times, monitor emergencies, or replace an emergency answering process.
How much does CallCrate cost?
CallCrate costs $29 a month, with no setup fee. There are no overage charges. Fair use applies for everyday small-business missed calls. Billing starts at checkout, including while we’re setting up your service. You can cancel and keep service through the period you’ve paid for.
