Missed call to Elm Street Pet Grooming

First grooming visit for a spaniel

Jamie Lewis (202) 555-0146

Voicemail transcript

“Hi, it’s Jamie. We’re looking for a groomer for our spaniel, Milo. He needs a bath and a trim. Could you call me about a first visit?”
Recording saved Email alert sent

Read the message. Check the recording. Call back when you’re ready.

Illustrative example, not a real customer message. For independent groomers and small grooming salons with their hands full.
  • Keep your business number
  • Read the message or listen back
  • You decide what happens next

The pet in front of you needs your attention.

You’re bathing, drying, or trimming when the phone rings. A new owner may want to ask about a first groom, a bath, or regular appointments. You need a way to hear the request without stepping away every time someone calls.

You don’t need to answer every call. You need to know what each one was about.

Start with the pet and the service they want.

Stay with the animal you’re grooming

Give callers a normal voicemail to leave their request. Read it once the pet is settled and you’re free to use the phone.

Read the owner’s description

See the pet, coat, and service the caller mentioned. Check the recording if a name or request needs another listen.

Keep appointment inquiries in one place

An inbox and email alerts help you return to messages between grooms. You decide which services you can offer and arrange appointments yourself.

Typical calls: First-visit questions, baths and trims, regular grooming inquiries, and service availability questions.

Your number.
Your customers.
A better way to miss a call.

CallCrate works behind your existing business number. No new number to put on the van, your website, or your business cards.

  1. We help you get set up

Create your account and add your business details. We prepare your CallCrate forwarding number and check that it works. It takes a little time; it isn’t instant.

  2. Forward the calls you can’t answer

Once your number is ready, follow your carrier’s instructions for call forwarding. Your customers keep calling the number they already know.

  3. Callers leave a normal voicemail

They hear your greeting and leave a message. No voice bot to negotiate with. CallCrate records the message and writes it out.

  4. Read it, then make the call

An email alert points you to the message. Read the transcript, listen when you need to, and decide how to follow up. No job is booked or promised on your behalf.

AI text follow-up

Know a little about the pet before you call.

Breed, size, and the service requested give you a starting point. With AI text follow-up, CallCrate can ask for those basics without deciding whether a particular groom is suitable.

Questions you could have it ask:

  • What’s your pet’s name and breed?
  • Roughly how much do they weigh?
  • What grooming service are you looking for?
  • Have they visited a professional groomer before?

You set the questions and the business facts it can share. These are examples, not a ready-made industry setup. You still handle quotes, bookings, and advice.

Example text conversation

CallCrate · Automated assistant

Hi Jamie, this is the automated assistant for Elm Street Pet Grooming. Roughly how much does Milo weigh? Reply STOP to opt out.

Jamie

About thirty pounds.

CallCrate · Automated assistant

Thanks. Has Milo been professionally groomed before?

Jamie

Yes, but we’ve just moved to the area. A call after four would be great.

Illustrative example. CallCrate identifies itself as automated. The caller can ask for a person or text STOP to stop the conversation.

A useful backup.
Not another hire.

If you need someone to answer live, give advice, or manage your calendar, this isn’t that service. If you need a better way to handle the calls you miss, this is a simpler place to start.

A few things worth knowing.

Straight answers for pet groomers. Have a question we didn’t cover? Ask us.

Can CallCrate take grooming inquiries while I’m with a pet?

Yes. Callers leave a voicemail, and you get the recording, transcript, and an email alert. You can read the owner’s request between appointments and return the call yourself.

Will it book appointments or give advice about an animal’s health?

No. CallCrate doesn’t book a groom, assess an animal’s health or behavior, recommend treatment, or confirm suitability for a service. You handle grooming decisions; veterinary questions belong with a vet.

Can I keep my business phone number?

Yes. Keep the number your customers already know. Once your CallCrate forwarding number is ready, follow your carrier’s instructions to forward the calls you can’t answer. Carrier options and charges can vary. We help with setup; service isn’t instant.

What happens if the caller doesn’t leave all the details?

You still get the voicemail, transcript, recording, and email alert. You can ask about anything missing when you call back. CallCrate doesn’t turn an incomplete message into a confirmed job.

Will CallCrate quote prices, book jobs, or handle emergencies?

No. You make every pricing, scheduling, and service decision. CallCrate doesn’t promise callback times, monitor emergencies, or replace an emergency answering process.

How much does CallCrate cost?

CallCrate costs $29 a month, with no setup fee. There are no overage charges. Fair use applies for everyday small-business missed calls. Billing starts at checkout, including while we’re setting up your service. You can cancel and keep service through the period you’ve paid for.
