Missed call to Elm Street Fences & Decks

Worn deck boards to replace

Jamie Lewis (202) 555-0146

Voicemail transcript

“Hi, it’s Jamie. Some boards on our backyard deck need replacing. We’d like someone to look at it and discuss the work. Could you call me?”
Recording saved Email alert sent

Read the message. Check the recording. Call back when you’re ready.

Illustrative example, not a real customer message. For fence and deck builders who work outside, not beside a desk phone.
  • Keep your business number
  • Read the message or listen back
  • You decide what happens next

“Work in the backyard” isn’t much to quote from.

One caller needs a gate repaired. Another wants a new fence or a worn deck rebuilt. You’re busy with the job already underway, and a string of missed numbers won’t tell you which project each person described.

You don’t need to answer every call. You need to know what each one was about.

Start the project conversation with some context.

Stay with the build in front of you

Let CallCrate take a message while you’re setting, cutting, or fitting. You can review it once the task is finished and your hands are free.

Read repair versus new construction

See the type of project, materials, and property details the caller left. Keep the recording for anything you want to hear in their words.

Keep site-visit requests together

Email alerts and an inbox help you review new messages after the job. You handle the assessment, permits discussion, measurements, and quote.

Typical calls: Fence replacements, gate repairs, new deck inquiries, and worn-board repair requests.

Your number.
Your customers.
A better way to miss a call.

CallCrate works behind your existing business number. No new number to put on the van, your website, or your business cards.

  1. We help you get set up

Create your account and add your business details. We prepare your CallCrate forwarding number and check that it works. It takes a little time; it isn’t instant.

  2. Forward the calls you can’t answer

Once your number is ready, follow your carrier’s instructions for call forwarding. Your customers keep calling the number they already know.

  3. Callers leave a normal voicemail

They hear your greeting and leave a message. No voice bot to negotiate with. CallCrate records the message and writes it out.

  4. Read it, then make the call

An email alert points you to the message. Read the transcript, listen when you need to, and decide how to follow up. No job is booked or promised on your behalf.

AI text follow-up

A gate repair and a new deck need different questions.

Project type, materials, and location help you prepare for the callback. With AI text follow-up, CallCrate can ask for those basics without assessing a structure or accepting a job.

Questions you could have it ask:

  • Is the project a fence, gate, or deck?
  • Is it a repair, replacement, or new build?
  • What material is there now, if any?
  • What’s the address and rough timeframe?

You set the questions and the business facts it can share. These are examples, not a ready-made industry setup. You still handle quotes, bookings, and advice.

CallCrate · Automated assistant

Thanks. Is the existing deck wood or composite, if you know?

Jamie

Wood. We’d like to discuss whether a repair makes sense.

Illustrative example. CallCrate identifies itself as automated. The caller can ask for a person or text STOP to stop the conversation.

A useful backup.
Not another hire.

If you need someone to answer live, give advice, or manage your calendar, this isn’t that service. If you need a better way to handle the calls you miss, this is a simpler place to start.

A few things worth knowing.

Straight answers for fence and deck contractors. Have a question we didn’t cover? Ask us.

Can one CallCrate setup take both fence and deck requests?

Yes. CallCrate saves the caller’s message and transcript, whether they’re asking about a fence, gate, or deck. You read the request and decide which work you can offer.

Will it say a deck is safe or confirm that permits aren’t needed?

No. CallCrate doesn’t assess structures, interpret local building requirements, confirm permits, or give construction advice. You handle the inspection and any technical or permit questions.

Can I keep my business phone number?

Yes. Keep the number your customers already know. Once your CallCrate forwarding number is ready, follow your carrier’s instructions to forward the calls you can’t answer. Carrier options and charges can vary. We help with setup; service isn’t instant.

What happens if the caller doesn’t leave all the details?

You still get the voicemail, transcript, recording, and email alert. You can ask about anything missing when you call back. CallCrate doesn’t turn an incomplete message into a confirmed job.

Will CallCrate quote prices, book jobs, or handle emergencies?

No. You make every pricing, scheduling, and service decision. CallCrate doesn’t promise callback times, monitor emergencies, or replace an emergency answering process.

How much does CallCrate cost?

CallCrate costs $29 a month, with no setup fee. There are no overage charges. Fair use applies for everyday small-business missed calls. Billing starts at checkout, including while we’re setting up your service. You can cancel and keep service through the period you’ve paid for.
